Education Programs
GreaterRestonArtsCenter offers learning opportunities for adults that take place "after hours." These programs are a mix of informative and social, full of artful dialogue and refreshment. We welcome you to join us if you are a novice art collector, an experienced connoisseur, or just a curious passerby. Our goal is to provide rewarding experiences and innovative avenues to explore art appreciation, art making, and art collecting with knowledgeable curators, artists, and professionals.
GreaterRestonArtsCenter and the hub theatre group share a deep commitment to promoting the arts as an enriching and galvanizing force within the community. Watch as these two organizations bring together the visual and performance arts in entertaining and interactive ways.

Scholarships
Throughout the year, we invite teenagers to make personal meaning of contemporary art, express themselves creatively, explore the role of contemporary art and artists in their lives today, and network with one another and professionals throughout the art world. We also offer opportunities for teens to work in the gallery or volunteer during the Fine Arts Festival and at other programs, and receive awards to assist in the formal training and creation of art at the university or college level.

There are many ways for youth and families to engage in art-making with artists and knowledgeable educators at GreaterRestonArtsCenter. Drop in during gallery hours and grab a bucket full of art supplies. Sign up for monthly after-school, hands-on art sessions that focus on creativity and self-expression. The whole family can create art together in gallery workshops scheduled on weekends. And when you need to beat the heat, join us for summer camp.
Art in the Schools
The Art in the Schools (AIS) program was established in 1976 by GreaterRestonArtsCenter to supplement and support local children's art experience in school. The program is based on in-class presentations of art historical subjects, followed by coordinating art projects. In 1974, a Fairfax County art resource teacher saw each child only once in an entire calendar year.
