Program Descriptions
Art Academics Belt Loop
Complete these three requirements:
- Scouts will make a list of common materials used to create visual art compositions.
- Scouts will investigate how six of the following elements of design are used in a drawing: lines, circles, dots, shapes, colors, patterns, textures, space, balance, or perspective.
- Scouts will make a color wheel and identify the three primary colors and the three secondary colors that can be made by mixing them. They will then use the primary and secondary colors to create a watercolor painting.
Art Academics Pin
Earn the Art Academics belt loop, and complete these six requirements:
- Tour the current exhibition and discuss the art you saw.
- Scouts will create two self-portraits using two different art techniques, such as drawing, painting, or sculpture.
- Scouts will create a freestanding sculpture using found objects.
- Scouts will make a collage using several different materials.
- Scouts will create a postage stamp, book cover, or music CD cover.
- Scouts will display their artwork in an art show at the gallery.
Webelos Artist Activity Badge
Earn the Art Academics belt loop, and complete these six requirements:
- Scouts will talk to an artist about the different occupations in the art field.
- Scouts will paint a watercolor picture out-of-doors and frame it.
- Scouts will list the primary and secondary colors and explain what happens when colors are combined.
- Scouts will use model magic clay to sculpt a simple subject.
- Scouts will make an art construction, using your recycled materials.
- Scouts will create a collage that expresses something about himself.
