Exhibition Opportunities

Exhibition Proposal Guidelines

In keeping with the Greater Reston Arts Center's mission to enrich community life by promoting involvement and excellence in contemporary visual arts, GRACE offers a series of changing exhibitions each year designed to present a diverse array of themes and media. The GRACE curator, in cooperation with the executive director and the exhibitions committee of the Board, is responsible for selecting and scheduling all exhibitions. GRACE mounts solo, themed, and group exhibitions, which may be proposed and organized by the GRACE curator; guest curators; and individual artists; as well as occasional juried shows.

Artists and curators interested in submitting exhibition proposals to GRACE should present the following materials:

  • Resume
  • Artist Statement/Proposal Description
  • Publications, if available
  • Up to 40 images of work, preferably digital images (jpegs at 300 dpi) sent on a CD or other electronic storage device, or high-quality printed reproductions
  • Stamped, self-addressed envelope for the return of your materials (including protective cardboard and postage sufficient to cover package)

All materials should be submitted to :

Exhibition proposals are evaluated by the curatorial staff, in tandem with the director and exhibitions committee. Proposals are formally assessed at quarterly meetings of the exhibitions committee, following which artists are notified of a decision. Considerations used to evaluate proposals include artistic quality, depth of content, originality, relevance, and budget feasibility.
