Education

Adult Programs

We start 2008 with a series of new programs for adults that take place "after hours." These programs are a mix of informative and social, full of artful dialogue and refreshment. We welcome you to join us if you are a novice art collector, an experienced connoisseur, or just a curious passerby. Our goal is to provide rewarding experiences and innovative avenues to explore art appreciation, art making, and art collecting with knowledgeable curators, artists, and professionals.

Teen Programs

GRACE offers a number of programs throughout the year that invite teenagers to make personal meaning of contemporary art, express themselves creatively, explore the role of contemporary art and artists in the lives of teens today, and network with one another and professionals throughout the art world.

Mondays in the Creation Station

GRACE offers hands-on art workshops for children in grades K-2 and 3-5 one Monday each month, September through April, at our gallery in Reston Town Center. Each lesson lasts from 3:30-5pm and focuses on art making and developing creativity through self-expression. Reservations and program fees are required.

Weekend Family Workshops

Join us for our Weekend Family Workshops held in conjunction with exhibitions in the main gallery. Participants of all ages are welcome to join artists, curators, and other professionals in a tour of the exhibition followed by specially designed art activities.

Art in the Schools

GRACE operates an art enrichment program in more than 40 area schools called GRACE Art in the Schools. Over 22,000 children benefit from this art program and over 1,000 volunteers help present the Art in the Schools program.

Summer Art Program

Registration is complete for all sessions (except for waiting list)

GRACE is a non-profit visual arts center with the mission to enrich community life by promoting involvement and excellence in today's visual arts. Through our Summer Art Program we help fulfill our goal of teaching art appreciation and art education to local youth.

All sessions offer a balance of two-dimensional and three-dimensional art projects. Each session will encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of fine art through experimentation with different media.

Every session will end with a final exhibit of student work, which is open to parents, family and friends.
