Faraway Nearby is a juried exhibition of contemporary fine art and craft in celebration of GRACE’s 35th anniversary. The exhibition will be installed in the main gallery, a contemporary art space, recognized as one of the premier non-profit art galleries in Northern Virginia. The mission of Greater Reston Arts Center is to enrich community life through involvement and excellence in contemporary visual arts. The arts center presents changing exhibitions throughout the year featuring regional artists. Over the course of its 35 year history the center has developed a reputation for presenting challenging exhibitions that invite audience involvement and for offering a rich array of related programs for all ages. In addition, GRACE presents the nationally recognized Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival in May of each year.

Juror
Dale Martin Lanzone is the president of International Public Art Marlborough, one of the world's leading contemporary art galleries. Over the past 12 years, Mr. Lanzone has developed and managed many large-scale, commissioned public art projects with a wide range of artists including Magdalena Abakanowicz, Red Grooms, Dennis Oppenheim, Beverly Pepper, and others. Mr. Lanzone has also curated major sculpture exhibitions at the Central Gardens in Monte Carlo, Monaco; Park Avenue, Bryant Park, Waterside Park, and on Broadway in New York, New York; at the Jardins du Palais Royal, Paris, France and the Washington Avenue Greenway, Miami Beach, Florida. He was previously the director of the United States General Services Administration's Cultural and Environmental Affairs programs where he led the national public art program for 10 years. In addition, he administered the GSA's Historic Preservation Program and served on the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, the Presidents' Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the Federal Council on the Arts and Humanities.
Eligibility
All artists, 18 years and older, living in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia are eligible. In addition, artists who have previously exhibited at GRACE or in the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival are eligible regardless of location. Artists must include an Eligibility Statement describing either their geographic eligibility or their prior exhibition history with GRACE.
